I'm off!!

I'm finally off from school for two weeks!!! Yaaaaaaay!!
And, to my MAJOR surprise, I barely have to work!
I only have to work my regular shift - weekend mornings!
Hallelujah!!

Quick Fright

Picture it: My friends finally came to visit...

Sitting there, in a nice and quite IHOP, is a young employee, with just enough customers to keep her working, yet not to be stressed. Folding Kid's Menus with her fellow hostess, lightly gossiping, she suspects nothing abnormal.
Out of the corner of her eye, she thinks she saw two customers. She prepares to welcome them, and as she turns to greet the two people, they leap out at her squealing, "HI CAGE!!"

She basically falls over, laughing into her hands.
Her boss looks at her.
She stands and welcomes them, smoothing her shirt.
The employee smiles as she takes them to patio seating.

(Un?)Friendly Visits

By now, it seems like just about EVERYONE knows that I work at IHOP... the only downside? ...It seems like they're all going crazy about it!

All my friends are trying to come by and "catch me" working at IHOP....
They write down the hours I work, and "surprise" me by showing up for breakfast when I'm working. It's happened like four times! XD

And there's the substantial crowd who got jobs to try to outdo me! They hear that "Cage's got a job!", and somehow their parents find out and make THEM get jobs too... then, when they see me next, they totally gloat about it! ..."Hey Cage, guess what I did over the weekend?"

Plus those who KEEP ASKING FOR FREE PANCAKES!!!!
...You know who you are.

I have to admit, though - It actually gets pretty entertaining at times!
...Silly people.

I also realized a few days ago that working has (already!) really opened my eyes. I have a much better sense of responsibility now, as well as new exposure to everything.
It's amazing how a job can change a person! :D

MONEY!!!!

MAKING MONEY IS SO COOL!!!!
Alright, sure it totally takes away from weekend time, but hey - the payoff of having a weekend job is SO WORTH IT!!!
I've been working at IHOP for about a month now, and am totally stoked about it!
The other employees are totally nice, I have a great boss, and am earning money at a job I don't totally hate!! :D

Plus, the money is well.... MONEY!!! ...'Nuff said*!

Second Day

So today I worked my second day at IHOP!!

I learned when we get paid, how to get ourselves drinks, and many other oh-so-important things!
EEEEEEAAAKK!!!*
I'm VERY excited.
However, I'm always exhausted when I get home... ~yawn~

Today the Manager told me all employees must come to a company meeting at four on Thursday... the same day as my Golf practice AND bass lesson... hmmmm...
Looks like I'm going to have to miss out on making holes in the ground at the driving range this time, seeing as it's the same time as the meeting.... gah.*

To Be Trained

I got a job. Wonderful. I'm ready to be a responsible adult.

Gulp.

I have all the clothes for work, and only need my work permit.

"You'll be working the Cash Register."

Gulp.

8am. Tomorrow.
Training.

Gulp.

Over the past two weeks I have been on pins and needles because of one restaurant.

IHOP.
There's an IHOP about a mile from my house, and now that I'm in high school, I decided to get a job.
At IHOP.
At first I was quite worried, because I'm only 14 and the law requires 15-year-olds to have a permit, so I'm still a little uncomfortable about it all.
But today, the 6th of September, was the day my application was accepted...
And I have been swept into the workforce.
